This interim Senior Director role sits within a large healthcare system spanning 22 hospitals and more than 500 physician clinics. The position carries full operational accountability for HIM and coding functions, with direct oversight of three HIM/Coding directors and their respective teams. The engagement is expected to run 12 or more months and requires approximately 25% onsite presence in Chicago, with the remainder worked remotely in the Central time zone.
The primary focus is large-scale operational improvement driven by significant technology change, including Epic upgrades and optimisation projects. The successful candidate will bring executive-level HIM/coding leadership experience, a strong track record managing multi-hospital environments, and demonstrated ability to lead director-level teams through major transformation programmes.
- Oversee HIM and coding operations across 22 hospitals and 500-plus physician clinics
- Directly manage three Directors of HIM/Coding and their respective teams
- Lead operational transformation initiatives tied to technology and Epic upgrades
- Drive continuous improvement across coding accuracy, throughput, and compliance
- Partner with technology and clinical leadership on Epic optimisation projects
- Maintain onsite presence in Chicago as required to support operational delivery
- Senior Director or executive-level HIM/Coding leadership experience
- Demonstrated background managing large, multi-hospital healthcare environments
- Experience overseeing director-level teams and large coding workforces
- Proven track record delivering Epic implementations, upgrades, or major optimisation projects
- Strong operational transformation and process improvement credentials
- Availability to work Central Standard Time hours with 25% onsite commitment in Chicago
