Interim Revenue Cycle/Business Office Director

This interim role is based at a rural Critical Access Hospital in southwestern Nebraska, supporting a multi-site clinic network with diverse ancillary and specialty services. The Director will assess revenue cycle workflows, address a significant denial backlog, improve clean claim rates, and accelerate accounts receivable conversion across commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage. The position also involves supporting month-end close activities and collaborating with internal finance leadership on cost reporting and budgeting.

The ideal candidate brings a practical, improvement-oriented leadership style with demonstrated experience developing and training billing teams. TruBridge experience is a plus. The start date is required within 2 to 3 weeks of acceptance. B.E. Smith manages travel, accommodation, and work-related expenses for interim placements.

• Assess current revenue cycle workflows and identify opportunities to improve clean claim rates and reduce denials
• Develop and implement a systematic approach to resolving the existing denial backlog and improving claim submission accuracy
• Optimise reimbursement across commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage
• Support month-end close activities and collaborate with finance leadership on cost reporting and budgeting
• Develop and train billing team members to implement sustainable process improvements
• Accelerate accounts receivable conversion and strengthen overall cash flow performance

• Bachelor's degree required
• Strong revenue cycle management background with a track record of measurable improvement
• Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience strongly preferred
• Experience developing and training billing teams in a hands-on leadership capacity
• TruBridge experience is a plus
• Availability to commence the engagement within 2 to 3 weeks of acceptance
