Interim Director, Surgical Services
An Alaska medical centre is seeking an interim operational and nursing leader to oversee a comprehensive Surgical Services portfolio, including Operating Room, PACU, Endoscopy, and Sterile Processing, with an immediate start.
An Alaskan medical centre requires an Interim Director of Surgical Services to provide operational and nursing leadership across a broad perioperative portfolio, covering Pre-Op, Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Room, PACU, Endoscopy, Pain Services, and Sterile Processing. The role demands a hands-on leader capable of driving clinical and financial performance in a high-volume surgical setting while optimising staffing, workflows, and resource utilisation.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with physician leaders and interdisciplinary teams to strengthen surgical operations and advance strategic initiatives. Responsibilities also include championing patient safety, evidence-based practice, regulatory readiness, and a culture of shared governance and nursing autonomy. Availability to start within two to three weeks of acceptance is required.
- Lead clinical and operational performance across the full perioperative continuum, ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centred care
- Optimise staffing, resource utilisation, workflows, and financial performance within Surgical Services
- Partner with physician leaders and interdisciplinary stakeholders to strengthen surgical operations and support service development
- Champion quality, patient safety, evidence-based practice, and regulatory readiness across all surgical departments
- Develop frontline leaders and teams through coaching, professional development, and succession planning
- Advance a culture of accountability, shared governance, nursing autonomy, and workforce well-being
- Bachelor's degree required
- Active Alaska RN licence required
- Minimum five years of relevant healthcare leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience across perioperative services, including OR, PACU, and Endoscopy
- Availability to commence within two to three weeks of offer acceptance
