This interim controller engagement is placed via Jobot Consulting with a client operating across healthcare and nonprofit sectors. The role covers end-to-end financial operations, including month-end close, payroll review, accruals, budgets, and projections. The controller will lead and mentor the finance team, prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior leadership, and manage the annual budgeting cycle. The role also involves developing financial policies, ensuring regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local requirements, and collaborating with other departments to improve processes and support strategic planning.
Great Plains proficiency is required or an equivalent financial management platform. The engagement suits a hands-on finance professional comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a dynamic environment. A CPA or MBA and nonprofit accounting experience are preferred.
- Oversee month-end close, payroll and payroll-related entries, accruals, budgets, and projections
- Lead, mentor, and review the work of the finance team to maintain accuracy and adherence to standards
- Prepare and present financial reports and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and best practice
- Manage the annual budgeting process, including forecasts and financial models
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to streamline processes and support strategic planning
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA is a plus
- Minimum five years of experience in a controller or equivalent role
- Proven track record with month-end close, payroll, accruals, budgets, and projections
- Proficiency in Great Plains or an equivalent financial management platform
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience reviewing team output
- Nonprofit accounting experience is strongly preferred
