Interim HR Director

This interim engagement places an experienced HR Director as the primary HR resource for a manufacturing and industrial organisation in the North Twin Cities metro. The consultant will oversee the full spectrum of HR operations, from employee relations and onboarding through to policy maintenance, benefits administration, and Minnesota Paid Leave compliance. The role requires someone comfortable working independently or alongside a small HR team while acting as a trusted advisor to employees, managers, and senior leadership.

The ideal candidate brings proven HR generalist or director experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with strong conflict-resolution skills, sound knowledge of employment compliance, and the ability to manage competing priorities without close supervision.

• Lead day-to-day HR operations as the organisation's primary HR resource
• Manage employee relations concerns, conduct investigations, and facilitate coaching conversations
• Coordinate onboarding activities and support new employee integration
• Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
• Oversee leave administration, including Minnesota Paid Leave and other leave programmes
• Partner with leadership on performance management, workforce planning, and employee development

• Proven experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or HR Director
• Background in manufacturing, industrial, operations, or production environments preferred
• Experience operating as a standalone HR professional or within a small HR team
• Strong employee relations, manager coaching, and conflict-resolution expertise
• Sound knowledge of HR compliance, policy administration, and employment law
• Experience supporting benefits administration, leave management, and HRIS platforms
