Fractional HR Director

Interdependence is a data-driven integrated marketing and PR agency with a team of 100-plus people serving brands, founders, and CMOs across consumer, healthcare, tech, and B2B sectors. The agency operates a proprietary platform that analyses a large volume of media stories daily, bringing measurability and accountability to earned media and broader marketing activity.

This fractional HR Director engagement is structured as a part-time, flexible arrangement of up to 10 hours per month. The successful candidate will operate independently across a remote, multi-state workforce, advising leadership on employment best practices, handling employee-facing matters including workplace accommodations and leave requests, and ensuring the business remains compliant with varying state-specific requirements. The role requires sound judgement on when to escalate matters to corporate counsel, and strong discretion across all personnel and company matters. Availability during US Eastern or Central business hours is required.

• Advise leadership on HR best practices suited to a remote, multi-state workforce
• Consult on and directly manage employee-facing matters, including workplace accommodations and FMLA requests
• Research and apply state-specific employment requirements as they arise
• Identify matters requiring escalation to corporate counsel and flag them promptly
• Consult on the design and rollout of team education and training programmes
• Serve as a clear, responsive point of contact for HR questions from both leadership and staff

• 7 to 10-plus years of progressive HR experience, including Director-level or equivalent responsibility
• Demonstrated experience supporting a remote, multi-state workforce
• Working knowledge of multi-state employment law fundamentals including FMLA, accommodations, and leave
• Sound judgement on when to engage outside or corporate counsel
• High degree of discretion and commitment to confidentiality
• Availability during US Eastern or Central business hours with capacity to work independently in a fractional capacity
