Interim Head of Finance

Our client, an early-stage venture-backed technology company, requires an Interim Head of Finance and Operations to own financial and operational activities across its domestic and international entities. The engagement runs for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a longer-term opportunity. The role is hybrid, with on-site presence in San Francisco required at least two days per week.

The successful candidate will take hands-on ownership of month-end close, multi-entity consolidations, management reporting, cash forecasting, runway and liquidity visibility, usage-based billing, revenue recognition, payroll and benefits, equity administration, tax coordination, fundraising support, and general vendor and facilities management. The role also involves managing international finance staff and external service providers, with accountability for strengthening controls and processes across the organisation.

• Lead finance and accounting activities across domestic and international entities, coordinating both internal teams and outsourced providers
• Oversee month-end close, multi-entity consolidations, management reporting, and financial projections
• Maintain cash forecasts and provide leadership with clear visibility into spending, liquidity, runway, and future funding requirements
• Manage usage-based customer billing and revenue recognition in partnership with commercial and operational teams
• Administer payroll, employee benefits, retirement plans, equity records, and related financial processes
• Coordinate domestic and international tax matters, required filings, transfer pricing, and indirect-tax compliance with external advisors, and support fundraising diligence and board reporting

• Demonstrated experience leading finance and operations within an early-stage, venture-backed company
• Strong hands-on capability across close management, consolidations, cash planning, revenue recognition, payroll, equity administration, and financial reporting
• Multi-entity and international finance experience, including coordination across domestic and overseas operations
• Familiarity with usage-based billing models, fundraising support, board reporting, and investor requests
• Proven ability to manage outsourced accounting, legal, tax, and operational providers while maintaining accountability for outcomes
• Strong judgement, communication, and organisational skills with the ability to operate independently in an evolving environment
