Protera Health is a virtual physical therapy startup delivering care across multiple U.S. states. The company operates under an MSO/PC structure and is seeking a part-time Head of Finance to partner closely with the CEO and executive team on financial strategy, payer economics, and business planning. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels within a fast-moving, growth-stage healthcare environment.
The engagement covers a broad remit including financial modelling, rolling forecasts, budgeting, cash planning, scenario analysis, and payer contract evaluation. The successful candidate will also provide financial leadership within the MSO/PC structure, improving reporting frameworks and supporting leadership with clear, actionable financial insight.
- Partner with the executive team to develop financial strategy, growth plans, and business planning frameworks
- Build and maintain financial models evaluating unit economics, contribution margins, and payer agreements
- Own and continuously improve forecasting and budgeting processes across revenue, expenses, and cash flow
- Analyse national and regional payer contracts, reimbursement structures, and risk arrangements to inform negotiation strategy
- Provide financial leadership within the MSO/PC structure, including managing the financial relationship between the MSO and professional entity
- Establish KPI and reporting frameworks that give leadership clear visibility into business performance
- 7 or more years of experience in healthcare finance, including services, physician practices, or value-based care
- Direct experience working within an MSO/PC healthcare model is required
- Proven knowledge of national health plan relationships and payer contracting
- Strong capability in financial modelling, scenario analysis, and forecasting
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in a fractional or part-time contractor capacity within a growth-stage company
