A growing food manufacturer seeks an interim operations leader to oversee manufacturing, warehouse, and supply chain functions during a leadership transition. Three-month contract based in Austin.
This interim contract supports a growing food manufacturer through a leadership transition, with the incoming Director taking ownership of manufacturing, warehouse, and supply chain operations. The role is hands-on from day one, requiring someone comfortable building structure, solving operational problems, and leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
The engagement is approximately three months, starting at 20 to 30 hours per week with potential to ramp toward full-time. The position is onsite in the Austin area, and the successful candidate must be available to begin quickly. Extension or conversion is possible based on business need and mutual fit.
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing, warehouse, and supply chain operations across the facility.
- Manage production scheduling, labour planning, packaging schedules, and warehouse execution.
- Oversee procurement, inventory, raw materials, shipping, logistics, and finished goods management.
- Establish and track KPIs covering production output, inventory accuracy, quality, throughput, and on-time delivery.
- Support onboarding of new contract manufacturing customers while maintaining service levels for existing accounts.
- Partner with executive leadership to communicate operational performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Eight or more years of progressive operations leadership in food, beverage, nutrition, supplements, or CPG manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience across manufacturing, production, procurement, inventory, warehousing, logistics, and quality functions.
- Co-manufacturing, co-packing, or contract manufacturing background strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to build operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks that drive accountability.
- Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial organisation where strategic thinking and hands-on execution are both required.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems; experience with SOS Inventory or QuickBooks Online is a plus.
