Interim Finance Director

Global Accounting Network is partnering with a leading energy trading and supply business seeking a senior Interim Finance Director to provide immediate, hands-on leadership across financial control, reporting, and technical accounting. The business is navigating a period of significant complexity and requires a finance leader who can bring clarity and pace from day one.

The role carries full ownership of the finance function, with close working relationships across the CEO, Board, and Group stakeholders. The successful candidate will need deep familiarity with energy trading and supply environments, strong expertise in IFRS 9, IFRS 13, and IFRS 15, and the commercial judgement to translate trading impacts into clear recommendations for leadership.

• Lead the finance function across financial control, reporting, and technical accounting in an energy trading and supply environment.
• Partner directly with the CEO, providing rigorous analysis and clear commercial recommendations at pace.
• Interrogate reconciliations and financial reporting to identify and resolve inherited issues.
• Deliver technical accounting leadership across IFRS 9, IFRS 13, and IFRS 15, including derivatives, hedging, and complex valuations.
• Manage and challenge auditors, defending technical accounting conclusions with confidence.
• Stabilise and lead the finance team, providing continuity and credibility throughout the interim period.

• Prior experience operating at CFO, Finance Director, or VP Finance level within energy trading, energy supply, or a similarly complex trading environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge across IFRS 9, IFRS 13, and IFRS 15, including derivatives and hedging instruments.
• Demonstrated ability to take control of a finance function and improve the reliability and quality of reporting.
• Commercial understanding of energy trading, retail operations, and PPAs and their impact on profitability, cash flow, and collateral.
• Experience working directly with CEOs, Boards, and senior Group stakeholders.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate at both a detailed and strategic level under pressure.
