Interim Controller / Director of Finance

LHH Recruitment Solutions is placing an interim Controller or Director of Finance with a growing consumer products and manufacturing organisation in the Collingswood, NJ area. The engagement is a 3-6 month contract with potential for extension, requiring approximately three days onsite per week. The successful candidate will report to senior financial leadership and take full ownership of day-to-day accounting and financial operations.

The role suits a hands-on finance leader with a strong grounding in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and financial planning. The organisation operates in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where finance works closely with operations and commercial leadership. Experience with small to mid-size, high-growth businesses is strongly preferred.

• Lead the monthly close process, including reconciliations, financial statements, and internal accounting controls
• Manage manufacturing cost accounting and inventory, covering BOMs, WIP, production costs, yields, waste, and COGS
• Develop and maintain annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial models
• Analyse SKU-level profitability, gross margins, and operational KPIs
• Identify and implement improvements to the month-end close cycle and financial reporting automation
• Provide financial oversight and guidance to accounting staff, and support operational finance activities including labour allocations and commissions

• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Director of Finance in a senior accounting or finance leadership capacity
• Strong background in manufacturing, CPG, food and beverage, or another inventory-intensive industry
• Solid understanding of BOMs, WIP, standard and actual costs, production yields, inventory valuation, and COGS
• Proven experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with QuickBooks or a comparable ERP platform
• CPA or CMA preferred but not required; Power Query or reporting automation experience is a plus
