Interim Controller (Part-Time)

This part-time interim engagement sits within a small machinery manufacturing business and covers the full spectrum of hands-on accounting responsibilities. The successful candidate will own month-end close, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and cash flow monitoring, alongside payroll processing and benefits administration.

The role suits an experienced accounting professional who is comfortable working independently in a small business environment, coordinating with external providers on tax, financial review, and ESOP valuation matters, and managing employee onboarding and recordkeeping as needed. The schedule is approximately 16 to 20 hours per week with flexible timing.

• Run month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting cycles.
• Prepare WIP reports and apply percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Set up jobs, invoice customers, and support inventory accounting processes.
• Monitor cash flow, debt payments, and accounts payable obligations.
• Process biweekly payroll and coordinate benefits and retirement plan reporting.
• Prepare quarterly tax filings and liaise with outside providers on taxes, financial reviews, and ESOP valuation.

• Six or more years of experience as a controller, bookkeeper, or equivalent role.
• Solid background in POC accounting, revenue recognition, and WIP reporting.
• Experience with inventory accounting preferred.
• Familiarity with Sage 50/Peachtree or comparable accounting software preferred.
• Payroll and benefits administration experience an advantage.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage responsibilities independently.
