Controller (Part-Time, Advisory) - Fully Remote

This part-time Controller role sits at the advisory level, supporting the President and CEO while acting as the primary liaison to the company's external accounting and tax firms. The external firm handles the monthly close; the Controller reviews that work, coordinates reporting and tax deadlines, and translates financial outcomes into actionable guidance for leadership. The role also covers proposal pricing support, internal controls improvement for federal contracting, financial dashboard development, and audit coordination. Availability during agreed Eastern Time business hours is required.

• Review financial statements, reconciliations, and key journal entries prepared by the external accounting firm for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate close schedules, reporting deliverables, and tax deadlines with outside accounting and tax providers.
• Advise the President and CEO on cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, contract profitability, and working capital.
• Review proposal pricing models, labour rates, indirect costs, and fee assumptions to support competitive federal bids.
• Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and processes to meet federal contracting requirements.
• Define KPIs, maintain financial dashboards, and coordinate audits and external reporting requests.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 7 or more years of accounting experience including at least 3 years as a Controller or senior accounting leader.
• Federal government contracting accounting experience covering indirect cost rates, FAR cost principles, DCAA audit support, and incurred cost submissions.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, close processes, and business tax compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with cloud or government contracting accounting systems.
• Experience reviewing and overseeing work performed by outside accounting and tax firms.
• U.S.-based, authorised to work in the U.S., and available during agreed Eastern Time business hours.
