Part-Time Controller / Real Estate & Hospitality
A part-time Corporate Controller role with a Washington, DC-based real estate development and hospitality group, serving as the sole internal accounting professional across multiple entities.
Frontier Development and Hospitality Group is seeking a part-time Corporate Controller to serve as its senior internal accounting professional, working directly with the Founder and Managing Principal. Routine bookkeeping is handled by an outsourced firm, and the Controller will oversee that relationship while taking full ownership of accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and financial analysis functions across multiple corporate, investment, development, and hotel entities.
The position runs approximately 12 to 16 hours per week, with in-office availability in Washington, DC required one to two days per week. Additional availability may be needed during year-end close, the annual audit, and financing events. Hourly and fixed monthly arrangements will both be considered.
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and financial reporting across multiple corporate, investment, development, and hotel ownership entities
- Review outsourced bookkeeping and personally perform journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and month-end close as required
- Prepare annual GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures for one hotel ownership entity subject to independent audit, and lead audit coordination with external auditors
- Manage cash-flow forecasting and treasury functions across multiple entities, including monitoring liquidity and initiating approved transfers
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, budget-to-actual analyses, and management reports for ownership, including clear financial analysis and recommendations
- Coordinate with tax accountants, lenders, investors, hotel operators, and other external professionals on lender reporting and joint-venture accounting
- Ten or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably as a Controller, Director of Finance, or similar senior role
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Strong GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger, month-end close, and multi-entity accounting experience, including audited financial statements and footnote disclosures
- Experience in real estate development, hotel ownership, hospitality, or real estate investment strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with QuickBooks Online
- Comfortable operating as a one-person internal accounting department and available to work in the Washington, DC office approximately one to two days per week
