Interim & Fractional Controller Consultants

Fahrenheit Advisors connects experienced Controllers with interim, fractional, and project-based consulting engagements across Richmond, Virginia and surrounding markets. Consultants partner with emerging growth and middle-market businesses to deliver hands-on support across financial close, reporting, compliance, and process improvement. The firm operates across Finance, Accounting, and HR, offering consultants flexibility in schedule and client mix.

Compensation ranges from $60 to $90 per hour and may be structured at Director or Senior Director level depending on experience, certifications, and scope. Engagements suit both independent consultants and corporate Controllers seeking project-based work with a collaborative, experienced team behind them.

• Lead monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation
• Oversee cash management, daily and weekly cash flow reporting, and short-term forecasting
• Monitor covenant compliance, borrowing base calculations, debt reporting, and liquidity risks
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial and operating reporting packages, including variance analysis
• Establish and improve financial processes, internal controls, and systems to support client decision-making
• Support mergers and acquisitions through financial due diligence, process documentation, and post-acquisition integration

• 8 to 10 or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 4 years in a Controller or equivalent role
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to communicate financial data clearly to stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to identify control gaps and design scalable, risk-mitigating processes
• Experience with middle-market accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong planning, organisational, and time-management skills with capacity to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
