Fractional Chief Medical Officer - Tricorder Systems

Tricorder is building rugged, self-contained clinical infrastructure for point-of-injury, pre-hospital and humanitarian environments where reliable power and connectivity cannot be assumed. The platform captures, monitors and acts on patient data anywhere, serving defence medical services first and civilian pre-hospital care next. It is being incubated inside Founders Factory's venture studio at pre-seed stage, with a founding engineer incoming and further team hires underway.

The fractional Chief Medical Officer will be the senior clinical voice for the product: ensuring what is built is grounded in operational reality, protects patient safety, and carries credibility with defence medical services, NHS trusts and investors. The role spans clinical workflow design, regulatory strategy, clinical risk management, and external representation across defence, NHS and humanitarian networks. This is a hands-on clinical leadership position, not a passive advisory title.

• Map casualty assessment, treatment, handover and evacuation pathways from point of injury through to definitive care, and translate these into product requirements
• Lead clinical risk management and serve as, or support the appointment of, the Clinical Safety Officer under NHS DCB0129
• Advise on the regulatory and evidence pathway for a medical device, including UKCA/CE marking and ISO 14971 alignment
• Represent the product to defence medical services, NHS and ambulance trusts, humanitarian organisations and investors
• Use clinical networks across defence medicine, the NHS and humanitarian response to secure pilots, user testing and early design partners
• Review clinical claims, protocols and terminology across the product and its AI features, and advise the founding team on clinical priorities

• Served as a military medic or doctor with first-hand experience of operational medicine, from point-of-injury care to the field hospital (non-negotiable)
• GMC-registered doctor with deep experience in resuscitation, trauma, emergency surgery, emergency medicine or pre-hospital care
• Currently active clinically, whether as a reservist, in the NHS, or in humanitarian or disaster response
• Credible with senior defence medical leaders, NHS clinicians and investors, and comfortable being the named clinical lead for a product
• Able to translate clinical realities into clear, practical product decisions and work at startup pace alongside engineers and designers
