Interim Chief Legal Officer

A large, integrated healthcare enterprise is seeking an experienced interim Chief Legal Officer to act as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO. The role demands a seasoned legal executive capable of operating across complex regulatory and operational environments, providing practical, business-oriented counsel on day-to-day and strategic matters.

The interim CLO will participate in executive and board-related meetings, advise on business expansion including mergers and acquisitions and payor contracting, and provide leadership continuity to the existing legal department. The position is hybrid, based in Philadelphia Tuesday through Thursday.

• Advise the CEO on legal, operational, and strategic matters, delivering timely and practical guidance.
• Participate in executive meetings, board-related activities, and key leadership discussions as required.
• Counsel on M&A transactions, regulatory considerations, governmental dynamics, and payor contracting issues.
• Partner with executive leadership to identify legal risks and develop pragmatic, well-informed solutions.
• Provide leadership and continuity to the legal department, preserving existing structures and outside counsel relationships.
• Leverage internal and external subject matter experts to ensure legal advice is thorough and accurate.

• Prior experience as a Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, or equivalent senior legal executive.
• Demonstrated experience advising CEOs and executive leadership teams within the healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with complex healthcare organisations, regulatory environments, and M&A activity.
• Strong executive presence, business acumen, and ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders.
• Proven ability to balance responsiveness with sound legal analysis and decision-making.
