Part-Time, Interim Chief Litigation Counsel

Korn Ferry has been engaged by a client in the energy sector to find a part-time interim Chief Litigation Counsel. The engagement is primarily remote, with an expectation of travelling to Chicago approximately once per month for on-site work. The successful candidate will oversee the full litigation function, partnering with internal team members and external counsel to manage current and future matters across the portfolio.

The role requires proven experience navigating complex corporate litigation, ideally within the energy industry, and a demonstrated ability to advise C-level executives and board members. The client is seeking a senior practitioner with a JD, active bar membership in good standing, and at least ten years of Chief Litigation or Senior Counsel experience managing litigation in challenging commercial environments.

• Direct overall litigation strategy across current and future matters in the client's portfolio
• Lead discovery processes and negotiate settlements on behalf of the client
• Partner with in-house team members and external counsel to execute litigation objectives
• Advise the CEO and Board on significant claims and legal risk
• Manage multiple stakeholders, with particular attention to major claims
• Steward all aspects of litigation through resolution

• JD required, with active standing in at least one bar association
• Ten or more years in a Chief Litigation or Senior Counsel role focused on corporate litigation
• Extensive corporate litigation experience, preferably within the energy sector
• Demonstrated experience working directly with C-level executives and boards
• Confidence leading and directing external counsel and internal stakeholders
• Ability to travel to Chicago approximately once per month
