Fractional CFO

VisionPath CFO partners with owner-led businesses, typically between $5 million and $50 million in revenue, to deliver strategic financial guidance across professional services, project-based firms, nonprofits, multi-entity organisations, franchisors, and healthcare. The firm's distinguishing standard is plain-language communication: every owner should leave a meeting knowing what to do next.

The fractional CFO joining this team will manage a portfolio of clients as their senior finance partner, working closely with owners and their teams rather than simply presenting recommendations. The role spans financial modelling, reporting design, external stakeholder management, and coaching leadership through difficult decisions. Compensation is $150/hr as a 1099 independent contractor. Business development is not required.

• Own the client relationship as the primary finance strategic partner, maintaining consistent communication and staying engaged between formal deliverables.
• Educate and advise owners and leadership teams, translating financial concepts into plain language and actionable next steps.
• Build financial models to support pricing decisions, contract economics, acquisition analysis, capital structure, and exit readiness.
• Design the reporting and metrics framework for each client, determining what the business should monitor and building the infrastructure to support it.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders including lenders, CPAs, advisors, and buy-side and sell-side contacts.
• Engage across the organisation, working with department leaders and frontline staff whose day-to-day decisions influence financial outcomes.

• 10 or more years of senior finance leadership, including CFO experience in a corporate environment.
• Prior fractional CFO experience managing multiple client relationships simultaneously.
• Direct experience with owner-led businesses under $50 million in revenue and with building financial models for strategic decisions.
• M&A, capital structure, or exit advisory experience, along with a track record managing external stakeholders such as lenders, investors, and board members.
• Strong communication and teaching skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance audiences.
• Must operate as a 1099 independent contractor with an LLC and carry professional errors and omissions insurance.
