The business is bootstrapped, founder-owned, and run by fewer than twenty people. The books are largely prepared by AI agents that ingest statements, post reconciliations, and flag exceptions. This role exists to provide an independent, CPA-grade signature on each monthly close, ensuring every number ties to an external source before the month is finalised.

The successful candidate will work directly with the founder and the day-to-day finance operator, handing clean financials to the external tax CPA firm. The close follows a statement-anchored in-house ledger that is not being migrated. The role is scoped at roughly 10 to 15 hours per week across monthly close, forecast maintenance, a standard ledger mirror sync, and a one-page founder readout.

• Sign the monthly close after staging statements, making categorisation rulings, and reconciling to the cent.
• Own the exception queue, authorise rule changes, and maintain the exception ledger in writing.
• Maintain the 13-week cash forecast and operating budget, flagging cash floor and reserve targets to the founder.
• Produce the founder's one-page monthly readout covering cash, margin, and spend versus budget.
• Manage the year-end package for the external tax CPA firm and keep the standard general ledger mirror in sync.
• Provide fast, accurate responses to counsel and advisor queries as they arise.

• Hands-on month-end close discipline with bank and card reconciliation experience, reconciling to $0.00.
• Revenue recognition judgement, including accrual and reversal patterns such as affiliate commission lag.
• Demonstrated 13-week cash forecasting at a comparable business ($10M to $50M revenue) or a fractional practice with real closes.
• Comfort operating inside a client-built or custom ledger system without migrating it.
• Experience reviewing and ruling on AI- or machine-prepared entries rather than re-performing all mechanics manually.
• CPA qualification is a plus; strong close artefacts and clear reasoning are prioritised.
