Interim Controller / Assistant Controller

PCG Talent Network is partnering with a pre-IPO technology company in the San Francisco Bay Area to place an experienced Interim Controller or Assistant Controller. The successful candidate will report to the VP, Corporate Controller and take ownership of core accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Financial Reporting, while driving monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles.

This is a leadership-oriented engagement suited to an accounting professional comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. A central focus will be supporting pre-IPO readiness, including process improvements, internal controls, documentation, and reporting infrastructure. Big 4 background, CPA designation, and prior experience in SaaS or high-growth technology environments are strongly preferred.

• Oversee core accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Financial Reporting
• Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Review reconciliations, journal entries, and financial results across the organisation
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support pre-IPO readiness efforts including process improvements, controls documentation, and reporting infrastructure
• Mentor and provide direction to accounting team members

• 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience, including time at Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent leadership level
• Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and accounting operations
• Experience managing multiple accounting functions within a complex organisation
• Big 4 public accounting background preferred; CPA strongly preferred
• Prior experience in a technology, SaaS, or high-growth environment is strongly preferred
• Pre-IPO or IPO readiness experience is highly desirable
