A growing outsourced finance and accounting firm is seeking an experienced CFO Consultant with an established client practice to join as a partner, owning client relationships and leading strategic finance work.
Foundation Recruiting and Consulting is an outsourced CFO and accounting firm based in Orange, California, expanding into the Chicago market. The firm serves businesses in the $2 million to $50 million revenue range across specialist practice groups including law firms, engineering and design firms, custom integrators, funeral homes, nonprofits, and technology-enabled businesses such as SaaS, AI service providers, and e-commerce.
The firm operates a three-tier delivery model comprising a US relationship layer, a remote operations layer, and an offshore delivery team. An incoming partner brings their existing client book into this structure, handing off billing, collections, software administration, hiring, and review to the firm while retaining the client relationship and leading each engagement. Partners have a defined, written path to equity of up to 7.5%, earned through performance and business development.
- Own client relationships end-to-end across your book, including delivery quality, scope, and retention
- Lead client engagements through the firm's three-tier model, directing the US operations layer and offshore delivery team
- Originate new client relationships, expand existing ones, and build referral sources within your industry niche
- Contribute to practice-group methodology, mentoring team members and upholding model standards
- Absorb established client relationships from existing partners where appropriate, managing transition shadow periods
- Earn equity in two stages: retaining transferred relationships intact and originating new business post-transfer
- Extensive accounting and finance background with CFO-level experience
- Currently operating a solo or small CFO consulting practice generating approximately $200-300k or more annually in recurring revenue
- Existing client relationships that are transferable to the firm
- Genuine aptitude for and enjoyment of client-facing and strategic finance work
- Motivated to build equity while focusing time on serving and growing a client book rather than building internal infrastructure
