Evoke Management is seeking an experienced part-time Finance Director or CFO to serve a portfolio of SME clients across the Bristol region. The role involves delivering strategic financial guidance, forecasting, and governance to founders, MDs and CEOs on a self-employed, consultancy basis. Engagements are conducted through a hybrid of in-person and virtual working.
The ideal candidate will combine strong financial acumen with high emotional intelligence, enabling them to build trust quickly with business owners and navigate the challenges common to smaller enterprises. The position suits someone comfortable managing several concurrent client relationships while maintaining a sustainable, flexible work schedule.
- Provide strategic financial advice and direction to SME founders, MDs and CEOs
- Deliver cashflow management, forecasting and financial planning across client engagements
- Oversee governance and financial reporting for a portfolio of businesses
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders quickly
- Collaborate with and contribute to a wider network of part-time Finance Directors
- Manage multiple client engagements concurrently under a self-employed consultancy model
- Proven experience as a Finance Director or CFO, ideally within SME environments
- Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to empathise with business owner challenges
- Comfortable working in a portfolio or fractional capacity across multiple clients
- Based in or near Bristol or the surrounding area
- Self-motivated, collaborative and keen to share knowledge with peers
- Qualified accountant or equivalent demonstrable financial leadership experience
