An interim CFO engagement with a PE-backed branded food and CPG business operating its own manufacturing facility in Loveland, Colorado, requiring hands-on finance leadership across manufacturing costs, FP&A, trade spend, and profitability reporting.
This interim CFO mandate sits within a PE-backed branded food and consumer products business generating approximately $65 million in annual revenue, with owned manufacturing in Loveland, Colorado and a retail portfolio of 100+ SKUs. The engagement is highly operational: the successful candidate will work closely alongside a lean finance team comprising a Controller, Staff Accountant, and AR/AP Clerk, providing strategic guidance to executive leadership and the private equity sponsor simultaneously.
Key focus areas include building meaningful visibility into manufacturing economics, strengthening FP&A and trade spend capabilities across roughly 150 SKUs, developing product-, SKU-, and customer-level profitability analysis, and leading the build-out of the 2027 annual operating plan. The role demands a CFO who can operate both at the strategic level with sponsors and deep in the operational details of a middle-market manufacturing business.

- Develop detailed visibility into manufacturing economics, including raw materials, direct labour, overhead, COGS, yields, and other production cost drivers.
- Build and enhance FP&A capabilities, including forecasting, budgeting, KPI reporting, and decision-support tools.
- Lead trade spend analysis and strategy across approximately 150 retail SKUs.
- Develop product-, SKU-, and customer-level profitability analysis to identify margin opportunities and guide commercial decisions.
- Lead development of the 2027 annual operating plan, including operating assumptions, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Prior experience as a CFO, Interim CFO, or senior finance leader within a PE-backed organisation.
- Strong background in food, beverage, branded consumer products, or a closely related CPG environment.
- Direct experience with owned manufacturing operations and manufacturing cost accounting, including COGS, raw materials, labour, and overhead.
- Demonstrated ability to build or substantially improve an FP&A function, including profitability analysis at the customer, product, and SKU level.
- Experience managing trade spend within a retail-oriented food or CPG business.
- Ability to operate effectively within a middle-market environment alongside a small, lean finance team.
