Interim Chief Financial Officer

A small investment firm with a focus on emerging markets is seeking an experienced fund finance leader to head finance across its funds and management company. This is a part-time, hands-on engagement with a mostly remote schedule, and a preference for candidates in the DC Metro area.

The interim CFO will work directly with senior management and international counterparties, owning the full finance function across fund and GP entities. Responsibilities span NAV review, audit management, investor reporting, treasury, tax coordination across multiple jurisdictions, regulatory filings, and board reporting. The role also covers management company finance including budgeting, payroll coordination, and insurance programme oversight.

• Review quarterly NAVs, financial statements, and capital account statements prepared by fund administrators
• Approve capital calls, distributions, management fees, and carried interest calculations
• Oversee fair value measurement under ASC 820 and resolve financial reporting issues across funds
• Manage annual fund and management company audits, serving as primary contact for external auditors
• Lead investor reporting covering fund performance metrics (gross and net IRR, DPI, TVPI, RVPI) and LP due diligence requests
• Prepare and present financial reporting to the Board, including periodic board materials and updates on fund and management company performance
• Oversee regulatory filings including Form PF, Form ADV, and local and state filings
• Own treasury, banking relationships, KYC processes, and cash flow management across funds and the management company

• 10 or more years in fund finance, including senior roles at private fund managers
• Hands-on experience with closed-end private funds: capital calls, distribution waterfalls, carried interest, and fee calculations
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP investment company accounting, including fair value under ASC 820
• Experience managing third-party administrators, custodians, and fund audits
• Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction fund structures, including offshore and emerging markets entities
• Working knowledge of SEC-registered investment adviser requirements and fund documents such as LPAs and side letters
