The University of Strathclyde is seeking an interim Chief Financial Officer to join its Executive Team for up to 12 months while a permanent search is conducted. Reporting to the Principal, the interim CFO will lead financial strategy, stewardship, governance and risk management across the institution, providing expert counsel to the University Court and senior leadership.
Key priorities include leading the annual budget planning process, supporting the development of long-term financial plans aligned to the Strathclyde 2030 strategic framework, and overseeing the Finance and Estates professional service directorates. The role requires a professionally qualified accountant with a strong record in senior finance leadership within large, complex organisations.
- Develop and deliver the university's financial strategy, ensuring sound stewardship and long-term sustainability
- Lead the budget planning process and oversee its delivery across the institution
- Provide expert financial advice to the Principal, University Court and Executive Team to support strategic decision-making
- Oversee Finance and Estates directorates, ensuring high-quality service delivery aligned to institutional priorities
- Manage governance, risk management and accountability frameworks across the finance function
- Support investment planning and resource allocation in line with the Strathclyde 2030 strategic framework
- Professionally qualified accountant with significant senior finance leadership experience
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial planning, budgeting and long-term financial modelling
- Experience leading within large and complex organisations, including governance and change management
- Ability to influence and advise at executive and board level
- Strong communication, analytical and stakeholder relationship management skills
