Interim Chief Executive Officer (Women's Health Charity)

Verity (PMOS UK) is the world's oldest charity for Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), founded in 1997 and recognised internationally as an expert patient voice. The organisation has reached a pivotal moment following a historic international renaming of the condition, coverage across 7,000 media stories, and active involvement in NICE guidelines. To date, all of this has been delivered by four unpaid volunteer Trustees with minimal paid support, and the charity is now appointing its first ever CEO to build a foundation for long-term sustainability.

This is a founding, not a caretaker, role. The primary objectives are to develop an income base sufficient to fund a permanent part-time CEO and to establish the employment systems, policies, and structures that will allow Verity to become an employer for the first time. The successful candidate will take on day-to-day operational leadership from the Trustees, protect and grow key relationships with NHS England, NICE, parliamentary stakeholders, and research partners, and prepare the ground for a permanent CEO appointment at the close of the interim period. Approximately 2 to 3 days per week commitment is expected.

• Build a sustainable income base through grant applications, pipeline management, and funder relationship development
• Establish the operational, HR, and governance infrastructure required for Verity to become an employer for the first time
• Take on day-to-day operational leadership, freeing Trustees to focus on governance and strategy
• Maintain and develop relationships with NHS England, NICE, parliamentary stakeholders, and research partners
• Manage media and external representation as agreed with the Board of Trustees
• Define the permanent CEO role, support recruitment, and deliver a structured handover at the end of the interim period

• CEO-level experience in the charitable sector, with a demonstrable track record in organisational development and change
• Experience leading a charity through a period of transition, including shifting from volunteer-led to staffed delivery
• Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies, including grant applications and funder pipeline management
• Financial literacy, including budget management, financial planning, and reporting in a charitable context
• Strong governance knowledge and experience working with or managing volunteers and small contractor teams
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust quickly across diverse stakeholders
