Interim VP of Accounting

This is a hands-on interim Controller/VP of Accounting engagement placed through Ascent CFO Solutions, supporting a VC-backed multi-brand consumer e-commerce business with over $200M in annual revenue. The company operates several brands, each with its own NetSuite instance and P&L, under a shared tax and audit framework. The engagement runs until a permanent accounting leader is appointed, likely over a three-to-six month period.

The successful contractor reports directly to the CFO and serves as the senior finance leader on-site in Denver, working closely with the CEO, COO, and Chief of Staff. The priority is to stabilise financial reporting, assess team capability across onshore and offshore staff, and identify process gaps and near-term improvements across multiple entities.

• Lead and assess an onshore and offshore accounting team of 15-20 people, including accounting managers and an Assistant Controller, and recommend improvements to team structure and support.
• Review financial reports and team output before submission to senior leadership, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Evaluate accounting processes and controls across multiple NetSuite instances and entity P&Ls, identifying gaps and quick wins.
• Provide hands-on support wherever the team requires, including month-end close and audit and tax readiness activities.
• Participate in regular check-ins with the CFO, COO, Chief of Staff, and CEO to keep leadership informed on financial matters.

• Prior experience as a Controller, VP of Accounting, or CFO at a company with $200-500M in revenue.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and the ability to clearly articulate financial positions to leadership.
• Ability to work on-site in Denver, Colorado for the duration of the engagement.
• Availability to commence the engagement immediately.
• Bonus: experience in e-commerce or direct-to-consumer, VC-backed environments, multi-entity and post-acquisition integration, and managing offshore accounting teams, ideally within NetSuite.
