Senior Accountant (Fractional, Part-Time) at Cerebral

Cerebral, a mental health care platform formed through its union with Resilience Lab, is seeking a fractional Senior Accountant on a part-time 1099 basis. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role sits at the centre of the monthly close process, covering journal entry preparation, complex account reconciliations, and financial reporting support. The position also involves maintaining the fixed asset register and responding to cross-departmental finance queries.

Beyond core close activities, the role contributes to building out improved processes and internal controls. This includes documenting controls once established, creating detailed process documentation, analysing account activity for simplification opportunities, and supporting ad hoc analyses as required.

• Facilitate the end-to-end monthly close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts
• Assist with financial reporting preparation and review
• Analyse complex account activity and recommend process improvements to streamline operations
• Maintain the fixed asset register with accuracy and currency
• Document and monitor internal controls, and create detailed process documentation
• Respond to cross-departmental queries by researching account activity and providing financial insights

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred
• 3+ years of in-house accounting experience in a similar industry, or equivalent experience at a Big Four firm
• Strong skills in preparing journal entries and reconciling complex accounts
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across different levels and departments
• High integrity, self-awareness, and a structured approach to problem solving
