Interim IEM Executive Director

The Institute for Engineering in Medicine (IEM) requires an experienced interim executive leader to guide the organisation through a period of strategic growth. The role spans two core areas: internal strategic leadership covering governance, organisational alignment, and advisory board effectiveness, and external ecosystem development covering industry, healthcare, government, and academic partnerships.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a multi-year strategic roadmap, a MedTech ecosystem partnership strategy, a stakeholder value proposition and membership framework, and measurable evaluation approaches for programme and organisational impact. The position operates at senior executive level, working directly with IEM leadership, the Medical School, and the College of Science and Engineering.

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction to advance IEM's mission, vision, and long-term priorities.
• Advise IEM leadership on organisational positioning, strategic initiatives, and growth opportunities.
• Lead efforts to strengthen governance structures, partnership strategies, and stakeholder engagement models.
• Expand and develop strategic partnerships across industry, healthcare systems, academia, government, and economic development bodies.
• Advance workforce development initiatives including the Clinical Immersion Programme and industry-aligned educational offerings.
• Establish metrics to evaluate stakeholder engagement, programme effectiveness, and ecosystem impact.

• Bachelor's degree plus at least 10 years of relevant executive leadership experience.
• Background in MedTech, healthcare, life sciences, higher education, or innovation ecosystems.
• Demonstrated experience leading organisational strategy, governance reform, or innovation initiatives.
• Proven ability to build consensus and lead cross-sector collaborations with senior stakeholders.
• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) preferred, with strong relationship-building and executive communication skills.
• Prior experience working with research institutions or higher education organisations is an advantage.
