An interim controllership engagement with a private-equity-backed manufacturer operating across the United States and Mexico, focused on strengthening accounting operations and improving the monthly close cycle.

Job Details

Korn Ferry is placing an Interim Controller with a confidential private-equity-backed manufacturer of transportation-related products. The organisation operates through multiple entities across the United States and Mexico, and the successful candidate will report directly to the CFO. The assignment is structured as a six-month contract, with potential for extension, and requires full-time onsite presence in the Brookston, Texas area.

The role involves assuming day-to-day leadership of accounting operations so the CFO can concentrate on strategic priorities. Key areas of focus include accelerating the monthly close toward a consistent 10 to 15-day cycle, strengthening inventory and standard costing processes, managing multi-entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations, and improving internal controls and financial governance across U.S. and Mexico teams.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and improve monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes toward a 10 to 15-day close cycle.
  • Manage consolidations, intercompany accounting, eliminations, and multi-entity financial reporting across U.S. and Mexico entities.
  • Strengthen inventory accounting, standard costing, and cost-of-goods-sold reporting within a manufacturing context.
  • Enhance internal controls, account reconciliations, documentation, and financial governance standards.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to U.S. and Mexico-based accounting and costing teams.
  • Partner with the CFO, plant operations, and supply chain on financial analysis and high-priority reporting initiatives.
Job Requirments
  • Extensive controllership leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, including multi-site or multi-entity operations.
  • Hands-on expertise in inventory accounting, manufacturing cost accounting, and standard costing.
  • Demonstrated experience with consolidations, intercompany accounting, and multi-currency or cross-border accounting.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams while remaining directly involved in detailed accounting processes.
  • Experience supporting operations across both the United States and Mexico or similarly complex international structures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or Epicor ERP experience preferred.
