Interim Controller

Focused Energy is placing an experienced Interim Controller to cover a parental leave period at a growing software and advertising technology company in Boulder, Colorado. The engagement runs from August 2026 through mid-January 2027, with onsite presence required every Tuesday and Thursday. The incoming Controller will have several weeks working alongside the current incumbent before the leave begins in early September.

This is a hands-on leadership role partnering closely with the CFO, VP of Finance, and FP&A Manager. The successful candidate will manage two accounting professionals and a Payroll Manager, maintain strong close processes, and ensure a clean transition at both ends of the engagement. Background in software, SaaS, or adtech is essential, as is recent NetSuite experience.

• Lead monthly and quarterly financial close processes, including account reconciliations and close checklists
• Prepare monthly financial statements, flash reporting, board reporting, and investor-requested reporting
• Manage cash-flow forecasting and working-capital reporting
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales commissions, and employee expense reimbursements
• Manage and provide leadership to two accounting professionals and one Payroll Manager
• Collaborate with FP&A, HR, and operations, and support external tax providers with periodic requests

• Significant hands-on Controller experience with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
• Recent, practical NetSuite experience
• Proven track record managing monthly and quarterly close processes and leading an accounting team
• Background in software, SaaS, adtech, or a technology-driven business
• Experience with cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management
• Ability to work onsite in Boulder every Tuesday and Thursday through mid-January 2027
