Cherry Bekaert Recruiting and Staffing Services is placing an interim Controller with a private equity-backed technology company. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role involves leading the full accounting function for an organisation generating approximately $18 million in annual revenue. The position is structured as a temp-to-hire engagement with an immediate start date.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a finance professional who is comfortable working in a lean team environment, partnering closely with executive leadership, and driving meaningful process improvements. The successful candidate will supervise a part-time Accountant and take ownership of both day-to-day accounting execution and longer-term operational efficiency initiatives.
- Lead all accounting operations including the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll oversight, and month-end close processes
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, board presentations, and private equity and lender compliance packages
- Manage revenue tracking, commission calculations, and financial analysis to support business performance
- Oversee professional services billing and ensure accuracy across client invoicing
- Maintain the integrity of financial reporting and internal controls
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce reliance on manual spreadsheet workflows and improve close-cycle efficiency
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
- Prior experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership position
- SaaS or broader technology industry background strongly preferred
- Experience working within a private equity-backed company highly regarded
- Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of QuickBooks Online or similar platforms
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a hands-on, high-accountability environment
