A well-regarded community hospital in Illinois is seeking an experienced interim Chief Nursing Officer for a six-month engagement. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CNO will assess clinical teams and operational frameworks, lead a model-of-care change initiative, and prepare the organisation for a new Health Information System. The role requires someone equally comfortable maintaining day-to-day clinical standards while driving meaningful structural improvements in parallel.
The CNO will also collaborate with the senior leadership team and regional partners to develop a five-year clinical services plan, refresh the quality and risk management strategy, and conduct a talent assessment of the nursing function. This is a hybrid role based in Illinois.
- Assess the clinical operations team and provide the CEO with strategies to improve risk management, operational effectiveness, and patient experience.
- Lead, coach, and inspire a diverse multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Direct a model-of-care change project and advise the CEO on improvements to the current clinical delivery model.
- Partner with the senior leadership team to prepare the organisation for a new Health Information System.
- Collaborate with regional partners to develop a five-year clinical services plan.
- Refresh the quality management and risk framework, and establish clear outcome indicators for direct reports.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum seven years of experience in a senior clinical leadership role.
- Demonstrated success leading nursing operations, quality initiatives, and patient care programmes.
- Proven track record as a change agent, elevating both staff and patient experience.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient safety standards, and quality improvement methodologies.
- Proven leadership competencies with the ability to build effective teams and foster a positive work environment.
