A 3-4 month interim Finance Director engagement at a growing consultancy, requiring hands-on financial leadership to stabilise reporting, forecasting, controls and processes ahead of a permanent handover.
SF Partners is looking for an experienced Interim Finance Director to step into a business-critical role within a growing consultancy. The successful candidate will quickly build confidence with senior stakeholders, assess the existing financial operating model and lead tangible improvements across reporting, forecasting, governance and controls. The contract runs 3-4 months, is outside IR35, and requires someone equally comfortable with strategic oversight and direct, practical execution.
The interim will combine board-level reporting with hands-on finance team management, resolving immediate issues while building a sustainable operating model that can be handed over cleanly to permanent leadership. Working at pace with competing priorities and demanding deadlines is essential to the role.
- Lead all financial activities including P&L, balance sheet, budgets and forecasts, and operational KPIs
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and ensure timely month-end close
- Prepare robust cash flow forecasts and identify working-capital and cash conversion risks
- Manage the annual audit process and ensure regulatory, tax and banking deadlines are met
- Review the structure, capability and effectiveness of the finance team
- Design and document a sustainable finance operating model ready for handover to permanent leadership
- Proven track record as a Finance Director or equivalent in a consultancy or professional services environment
- Strong command of management accounts, cash flow forecasting, budgeting and financial controls
- Ability to build credibility quickly with boards and senior stakeholders
- Comfortable operating at pace, managing competing priorities against demanding deadlines
- Experience managing audits and meeting regulatory and compliance obligations
- Available to engage on an outside-IR35 contract basis for 3-4 months
