Fractional Executive Director

North Hills Art Center is looking for a temporary, part-time Executive Director to provide operational stability during a leadership transition. The successful candidate will lead day-to-day operations, oversee administrative staff, and work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure governance and management responsibilities remain clearly separated. The role spans financial controls, vendor management, grant administration, and the creation of sustainable processes that will support a future permanent appointment.

This engagement runs until the Board determines operational needs have been met or a permanent Executive Director is appointed. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA, at 10 to 20 hours per week, and is open to independent contractors or part-time employees.

• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current operations and recommend a prioritised stabilisation plan.
• Oversee day-to-day administration, facilities, vendors, contracts, and compliance obligations.
• Work with the Treasurer and bookkeeper to strengthen financial controls and reporting processes.
• Manage operational projects, exhibition schedules, and organisational timelines through to completion.
• Oversee grant administration, reporting, and future funding planning aligned to measurable goals.
• Prepare executive reports and governance guidance for each Board of Directors meeting.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent executive leadership experience.
• Five or more years in executive, nonprofit, operations, or business leadership roles.
• Strong organisational, financial, and project management capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience reporting to boards, executives, or governing bodies.
• Ability to design and document sustainable systems and procedures for ongoing use.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across staff and stakeholders.
