Interim Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

This interim engagement sits within a multi-location North American professional services organisation and reports directly to the CFO. The mandate covers leading a team of four FP&A professionals through an annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, with a strong emphasis on stabilising processes, improving data quality, and identifying practical automation opportunities. The assignment runs for approximately 90 days.

The role is highly hands-on. The successful candidate will work directly in Excel-based planning environments while also providing structured recommendations on future-state FP&A capabilities. Expected outcomes include completing the budget cycle on schedule, improving forecasting accuracy and reporting consistency, and delivering a clear roadmap for scalable FP&A processes.

• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle end-to-end, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
• Manage and coach a team of four FP&A professionals through a demanding planning period.
• Partner with budget owners and operational leaders to develop, validate, and challenge financial assumptions.
• Consolidate budget submissions and analyse variances, risks, and opportunities.
• Build financial models and scenario analyses to support senior leadership decision-making.
• Identify process inefficiencies and recommend practical automation and technology improvements.

• 10 or more years of progressive finance and FP&A experience, including prior senior leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale budgeting cycles within complex organisations.
• Advanced Excel modelling skills and comfort operating in less structured, Excel-based environments.
• Strong people leadership capability with a track record of developing teams through periods of change.
• Exposure to FP&A platforms, Power BI, or similar reporting and automation tools is an advantage.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across finance and operational functions.
