Relief for Children (RfC) is a community-based nonprofit delivering education, health, and empowerment programmes for children in Ghana. As the organisation grows, it requires stronger financial systems to ensure responsible stewardship of every dollar and sustainable expansion of its programmes.
The Director of Finance will work across finance, programmes, fundraising, and operations, partnering closely with the Executive Director, COO, Board Treasurer, and fellow directors. The position is an unpaid volunteer leadership role, with activity levels expected to increase during budgeting, audit, and reporting cycles. It offers a genuine opportunity to apply senior finance expertise in direct support of a mission-driven international organisation.
- Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts that align resources with mission priorities
- Build clear, reliable financial reporting for organisational leadership and the Board
- Strengthen cash-flow planning, internal controls, and risk-management practices
- Create processes for tracking grants, donor-restricted funds, and programme expenses
- Prepare the organisation for audits, donor reviews, and nonprofit compliance requirements
- Build financial capability across the organisation through guidance, tools, and training
- Proven experience in financial management, accounting, budgeting, or financial planning
- Nonprofit fund accounting or grant financial management experience highly valued
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
- Familiarity with audit, compliance, and internal controls
- Ability to collaborate effectively with executive and Board-level leadership
- Commitment to consistent part-time volunteer engagement, including periodic leadership and finance meetings
