Interim CNO/VP Patient Care

HCT Healthcare Transformation is seeking an experienced nursing executive to step into an interim Vice President of Patient Care Services and CNO position at a confidential critical access hospital in the north central United States. The role carries full clinical and administrative responsibility across nursing, quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.

The successful candidate will manage budgets and resource allocation, ensure adherence to Joint Commission and licensure standards, coach nursing and clinical leaders, and collaborate with both system-level and local leadership. On-assignment expenses including housing, airfare, and rental car are covered.

• Direct overall clinical and administrative operations across nursing, quality, safety, and regulatory functions
• Manage budgets, productivity metrics, and resource allocation for hospital services
• Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, licensure, and accreditation requirements
• Develop, coach, and mentor nursing and clinical leadership teams
• Collaborate with system and local leaders and providers to advance organisational priorities
• Step in to support frontline staff during periods of high workload or staffing shortages

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a Master's degree required
• Minimum 7 years of discipline experience, or at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
• Minimum 3 years of Critical Access Hospital experience, including CAH leadership within the last 12 months
• Demonstrated change management, coaching, and mentoring capability
• Current compact RN licence accepted; BLS (AHA) certification required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Project) and Google Suite
