Wells Group seeks a fractional CFO to serve as senior finance leader to private equity and venture-backed clients, spanning financial strategy, capital raises, M&A, and board reporting across diverse industries.
Wells Group of New York is a finance and accounting advisory firm serving high-growth, private equity-backed, venture-backed, and founder-led companies across media, healthcare, SaaS, consumer, fintech, and other industries. The firm provides interim CFO, controller, FP&A, audit readiness, strategic finance, and transaction support services.
This fractional CFO engagement is both a client-facing leadership role and a firm-building opportunity. The successful candidate will step into complex client situations including capital raises, M&A processes, board reporting, restructurings, and finance department builds, while also helping Wells Group develop repeatable service models, recruit senior talent, and grow its reputation as a leading CFO platform for high-growth and lower middle market companies.
- Serve as interim CFO or senior finance advisor to Wells Group clients across PE and venture-backed environments
- Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, board reporting, cash management, and KPI development
- Advise CEOs, founders, boards, and investors on capital allocation, growth strategy, and operational improvement
- Support clients through financings, M&A transactions, due diligence, and investor communications
- Develop repeatable playbooks, reporting standards, and client service models to support firm scalability
- Participate in business development, including prospect meetings, proposal strategy, and relationship management
- 10 or more years of senior finance leadership experience, such as CFO, VP Finance, controller, investment banking, or transaction advisory roles
- Demonstrated experience working with venture-backed, private equity-backed, or high-growth founder-led companies
- Strong command of accounting, FP&A, cash flow management, capital raising, M&A, and audit readiness
- Ability to communicate credibly with CEOs, boards, investors, lenders, and senior operators
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex client or company finance situations
- Commercial mindset with genuine interest in business development and relationship building; CPA, MBA, or Big Four background is helpful but not required
