A 12-month interim CFO engagement at Scotland's third-largest university, providing strategic financial leadership, overseeing Finance and Estates directorates, and supporting long-term planning aligned to the Strathclyde 2030 framework.
The University of Strathclyde is seeking an Interim Chief Financial Officer for up to 12 months while a permanent appointment is made. As a core member of the Executive Team, the interim CFO will report directly to the Principal and hold responsibility for the University's financial strategy, governance, risk management and accountability frameworks.
The role leads key Professional Service Directorates, including Finance and Estates, and will focus on driving the annual budget planning cycle and developing long-term financial plans aligned to the Strathclyde 2030 strategic framework. The successful candidate will advise the Principal, University Court and Executive Team on investment planning and resource allocation across the institution.
- Develop and deliver the University's overarching financial strategy, ensuring sound stewardship and governance
- Lead the Finance and Estates Professional Service Directorates, maintaining high-quality service delivery
- Drive the annual budget planning process and support the creation of long-term financial plans
- Provide expert financial counsel to the Principal, University Court and Executive Team to inform strategic decisions
- Oversee risk management and accountability frameworks across the institution
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at executive and board level
- Professionally qualified accountant with a significant track record in senior finance leadership within a large, complex organisation
- Demonstrable experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting and long-term financial modelling
- Strong background in governance, risk management and organisational leadership
- Proven change management capability with experience influencing at executive and board level
- Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder relationship management skills
