An interim CFO role leading the finance function of a large multi-academy trust through a period of significant organisational change, supporting the CEO and Board with strategic oversight and governance.
Trinity House Group is seeking an Interim CFO to join its executive leadership team during a critical transition period. The role carries full responsibility for the finance function, working alongside the CEO (as Accounting Officer) and the Board of Directors. Depending on the candidate, there is scope to extend oversight to IT, Procurement and Estates.
The CFO will drive strategic financial planning, scenario modelling and long-term sustainability frameworks, while ensuring compliance with the Academies Trust Handbook. The remit includes reserves management, banking relationships, capital project oversight, procurement strategy and leading a distributed finance team across multiple school sites.
- Develop and implement strategic financial planning, scenario modelling and long-term sustainability frameworks
- Provide Board-level financial advisory, risk management, and oversight of reserves, investments and banking relationships
- Ensure compliance with the Academies Trust Handbook and deliver transparent financial reporting across all schools
- Lead, develop and inspire a distributed finance team across multiple sites, driving accountability and excellence
- Oversee capital projects, growth planning and procurement strategies to deliver value for money
- Support the CEO as Accounting Officer and engage with school leaders and central teams on financial matters
- CCAB-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA) with extensive senior finance leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience in a complex, multi-site organisation, ideally with prior interim or transformation exposure
- Strong expertise in financial governance, regulatory compliance and large-scale operations
- Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insight for a range of stakeholders
- Executive-level communication skills, comfortable presenting to Boards and senior leadership
