Thrive Nonprofit Partners is seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to provide high-level financial leadership to mission-driven nonprofit clients. The role spans financial strategy, operational systems improvement, and nonprofit accounting compliance. You will partner closely with executive directors, boards, and finance teams to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable guidance.
This is a fully remote engagement with flexibility around hours, which may scale over time based on client load. The organisation serves established churches, private schools, and nonprofits, drawing on more than 30 years of experience working alongside boards and senior leadership.
- Build trusted advisory relationships with senior pastors, directors, and board members across nonprofit client organisations.
- Prepare financial analyses, dashboards, cash flow models, and scenario plans to support data-driven executive decision making.
- Assess and optimise financial systems, workflows, and internal controls to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal finance teams and outsourced bookkeeping providers to strengthen accounting processes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, grant management requirements, and restricted fund tracking.
- Support clients through budget preparation, audit readiness, and year-end close processes.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in a CFO, controller, or fractional/consulting finance leadership role.
- Proficiency in financial software including Blackbaud, QuickBooks, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and apply new tools, including AI-assisted software, to improve client service delivery.
- Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build high-trust relationships with executives and boards.
- Alignment with nonprofit values, particularly those of faith-based organisations such as churches and ministries.
