Interim Chief Financial Officer

The University of Strathclyde is seeking an Interim Chief Financial Officer for up to 12 months while a permanent search is conducted. Reporting to the Principal, the postholder will provide strategic financial leadership to support the institution's ambitions within a competitive and complex environment. The role carries responsibility for the Finance and Estates directorates, budget planning and the development of long-term financial plans aligned to the Strathclyde 2030 strategic framework.

The successful candidate will advise the Principal, University Court and Executive Team on financial decision-making, investment planning and resource allocation. They will bring a strong track record in governance, risk management and change management within large, complex organisations, together with the ability to influence credibly at board and executive level.

• Lead the development and delivery of the University's financial strategy and long-term financial plans
• Oversee the Finance and Estates Professional Service Directorates, ensuring high-quality service delivery
• Advise the Principal, University Court and Executive Team on financial governance and strategic decision-making
• Lead the annual budget planning process and monitor delivery against targets
• Manage institutional risk, investment planning and resource deployment across the organisation
• Drive change initiatives aligned to the Strathclyde 2030 strategic framework

• Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Significant senior finance leadership experience within a large, complex organisation
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial planning, governance and risk management
• Proven ability to influence and advise at executive and board level
• Outstanding communication, analytical and stakeholder relationship management skills
• Experience leading organisational change and managing multiple professional service functions
