Robert Half is exclusively partnering with a rapidly growing, VC-backed medical device company in Cardiff to source a Fractional CFO on a part-time basis (3 days per week), with scope to operate outside IR35. The business is commercialising healthcare technology and entering a significant growth phase, requiring experienced financial leadership at both strategic and operational levels.
Reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside shareholders and investors, the Fractional CFO will professionalise financial operations, support strategic decision-making, and prepare the business for future funding rounds. The role spans financial strategy, investor engagement, management reporting, cash flow oversight, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as a trusted financial adviser to the CEO, board, and investor group.
- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy aligned to growth objectives.
- Lead fundraising initiatives including venture capital and private investment rounds, and prepare investor materials and financial models.
- Oversee monthly management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Build and maintain robust financial controls, systems, and processes appropriate for a scaling business.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements, working alongside external accountants and auditors.
- Proven experience as a CFO, Fractional CFO, or Finance Director within MedTech, life sciences, medical devices, or healthcare technology.
- Demonstrable track record working within venture capital-backed businesses and supporting successful fundraising rounds.
- Strong financial planning, modelling, and cash management capability.
- Experience engaging with investors, VC firms, and boards at a senior level.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Ability to operate effectively in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with a hands-on approach.
