Small Business Chief Financial Officer (Fractional)
Oversee financial management as fractional CFO for up to 30 small law firm clients, focusing on budgets, forecasts, and compliance guidance.
HTM operates as the fractional C-suite for solo and small law firms with gross revenues mostly under $10MM. As Fractional CFO, you'll manage a roster of up to 30 clients from your home office, conducting three meetings monthly per client (~60 hours client-facing time). The remaining work week involves financial preparation, analysis, and collaboration with internal advisor teams.
This role requires deep engagement with financial minutiae, working directly with clients' bookkeepers on bank reconciliations, budget variances, and trend analysis. You'll guide financially inexperienced law firm owners through cash flow management and compliance requirements in clear, accessible language.
- Manage financial operations for up to 30 small law firm clients
- Conduct three client meetings monthly focusing on financial performance
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis reports
- Identify balance sheet trends indicating compliance risks
- Collaborate with client bookkeepers on reconciliations and corrections
- Present financial solutions to under-capitalised business owners in plain English
- Strong background in financial and accounting roles
- Business degree with emphasis in accounting or finance preferred
- Hands-on FP&A experience including budgets and financial forecasts
- Proven experience advising under-capitalised small business owners
- Ability to identify P&L deficiencies and balance sheet compliance risks
- Capability to explain complex financial concepts in accessible terms
