A growing Multi Academy Trust in West Yorkshire requires an experienced Interim CFO to maintain financial stability, support strategic decisions, and lead the finance function during a 3-6 month transition period.
A Multi Academy Trust in West Yorkshire is seeking an Interim CFO to provide leadership and continuity while a permanent appointment is made. Reporting to the CEO, the role covers both strategic and operational finance responsibilities, including monthly management accounts, financial controls, governance, budgeting, cash flow, and statutory reporting. The assignment runs for 3-6 months, starting September 2026, with hybrid working available and a competitive day rate dependent on experience.
The Interim CFO will also advise the CEO and Board, lead the finance team, contribute to organisational restructuring discussions, review the school business management model, and assess the future finance operating model. Oversight of estates-related responsibilities currently aligned to the CFO remit is also included.
- Lead the finance function and maintain financial stability throughout the transition period
- Produce and review monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Ensure robust financial controls, governance, and compliance across the Trust
- Support budget setting, forecasting, cash flow management, and statutory reporting
- Advise the CEO, Board, and senior leadership team on strategic and financial matters
- Assess and shape the future finance operating model, including reviewing the school business management structure
- Significant senior finance leadership experience within a Multi Academy Trust or comparable education environment
- Strong technical finance expertise and understanding of academy trust governance and financial management
- Experience leading organisational change or finance transformation programmes
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on across day-to-day finance operations
- Recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent
