Flying Horse Capital is sourcing a Fractional CFO for a strategic partner, a high-growth financial services company building accounts, payments, and trading solutions for the digital economy. The company is preparing to become an SEC registrant and needs an experienced finance leader to own the transition.
The role is fully remote and part-time, scaling in commitment alongside transaction milestones. The successful candidate will work directly with the CEO, board, auditors, and legal counsel, and will be responsible for both the strategic and hands-on execution of public company readiness. A CPA is required and Big 4 background is strongly preferred, along with direct experience taking a company public or leading reporting at a public company.
- Lead SEC registration and ongoing reporting, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and registration statements
- Assess and close gaps in technical accounting, close process, and financial statement preparation under US GAAP
- Design and implement SOX-compliant internal controls and prepare for 404 readiness
- Manage the external audit relationship and PCAOB audit process
- Build the public company finance calendar, disclosure controls, and audit committee reporting
- Advise on capital structure, equity, and transaction accounting tied to the listing
- Assess finance team capability and recommend hiring or outsourcing to support ongoing public company operations
- 10 or more years in finance and accounting leadership, including CFO, VP Finance, or Controller roles
- Direct, hands-on SEC reporting experience, including taking a company public or leading reporting at a public company
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC Regulation S-X and S-K, and SOX compliance
- Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, or trading platforms
- CPA required, with Big 4 background strongly preferred
- Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving environment as both strategist and hands-on contributor
