Fractional CFO - Construction Industry

As a fractional CFO, you will carry a portfolio of 8-10 construction clients, acting as their embedded financial leader rather than an external adviser. The emphasis is on forward-looking work: scenario modelling, cash forecasting, pricing strategy, and bonding capacity, not variance explanations.

Success is measured in concrete outcomes, including margin expansion, improved WIP accuracy, and enterprise value growth. The role is fully remote and client-facing, requiring direct engagement with owners and executive teams. Cruzumi expects its CFOs to challenge owners professionally, drive accountability, and leave every engagement with clear follow-through commitments.

• Lead 12-month cash flow forecasting and scenario modelling for each client portfolio
• Drive WIP accuracy and gross margin visibility across active construction projects
• Identify profit leaks, capital inefficiencies, and gross profit fade issues
• Advise on bonding, surety, and banking relationships to support growth and capacity
• Improve pricing discipline and bid strategy to protect and expand net margins
• Prepare clients for long-term scale or exit by building financial infrastructure and accountability

• 10+ years of CFO experience specifically within the construction industry
• Direct ownership of margin targets at companies with $10M-$50M+ in annual revenue
• Deep expertise in job cost systems, gross profit fade analysis, and cash forecasting under growth constraints
• Established knowledge of bonding/surety relationships and banking credit facilities
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting teams
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred; comfort challenging business owners and working without full-time immersion essential
