Burkland's Consulting CFO role involves providing strategic financial leadership to several startup clients simultaneously, with a focus on high-growth environments spanning SaaS, AI, Fintech, and Healthcare. The position is fully remote and part-time, requiring the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple organisations.
Day-to-day work covers developing financial plans, budgets, and forecasts; overseeing cash management and runway analysis; preparing and interpreting financial statements; building improved financial processes; and supporting fundraising and board communications. Strong client-facing skills and comfort with startup-stage dynamics are central to success in this role.
- Develop and oversee financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for multiple startup clients
- Advise founders and executive teams on cash management, runway, and capital allocation
- Prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and investor-ready reports
- Build and improve financial processes in partnership with accounting and tax teams
- Support fundraising efforts and manage board and investor communications
- Deliver clear, data-driven recommendations to guide growth and scalability decisions
- Extensive experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in venture-backed or high-growth startups
- Strong FP&A skills including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Proven ability to operate in a consulting or fractional capacity across multiple client relationships
- Excellent communication skills, including presenting complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences
- Familiarity with SaaS metrics and financial systems; sector experience in SaaS, AI, Fintech, or Healthcare preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred
